ECP Announces Polling Schedule for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senate Elections


Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan: has issued the schedule for polling to fill vacant Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.



According to Radio Pakistan, polling for seven general seats, two seats reserved for women, and two for Technocrats, including Ulema, will be held on the 21st of this month at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. The Election Commission has also announced the schedule for the Senate election on the seat vacated by Dr. Sania Nishtar. Nomination papers can be submitted on the 10th and 11th of this month, scrutiny will take place on the 16th, while polling will be conducted on the 31st of this month.



In addition, the ECP has released a notification regarding the postponed election process for the Senate seat vacated due to the demise of Senator Sajid Mir. As per the revised schedule, the Returning Officer will issue the revised list of candidates on the 15th of this month, and nomination papers can be withdrawn by the 16th of this month. Polling for this seat will take place in the Punjab Assembly on the 21st of this month.



Besides, the Election Commission of Pakistan notified the schedule to fill two vacant reserved seats for Women in the National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province due to exhaustion of the priority list earlier provided by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. The PML-N has been asked to file nomination papers from the 9th to the 10th of this month.
