Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet was briefed that overall inflation situation in the country has shown marked improvement during the current fiscal year, reflecting enhanced price stability and effective macroeconomic management.
According to Radio Pakistan, Chief Economist, Planning and Development Division Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad briefed the ECC during a meeting in Islamabad chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The Committee was informed that inflation stood at 4.1 percent in July and 3.0 percent in August. Although temporary pressures emerged during September and October due to flood-related supply disruptions, inflation moderated subsequently and declined to 6.1 percent in November.
This improvement was attributed to prudent fiscal management, effective price stabilization measures, and close market monitoring, while remaining within the government’s budgetary projections. The latest data of weekly price monitoring also showed a stabilizing trend in essential commodities with prices of 10 out of 51 essential commodities declining on a week-on-week basis, providing tangible relief to consumers.
Besides, the ECC approved provision of 4.775 billion rupees for payment to 945 deserving families of missing persons, as identified by the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances. It also okayed several technical supplementary grants in favour of various departments.
