Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has sanctioned multi-billion-rupee allocations for a range of development, security, and infrastructure projects.
According to Radio Pakistan, the approval came during a meeting of the ECC, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad. The Committee allocated 7.026 billion rupees for the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme to maintain the momentum of development projects and ensure timely achievement of set objectives.
In addition, the ECC approved 10.15 billion rupees for the Pakistan Navy's Hangor Project. The Committee also sanctioned seven allocations proposed by the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, including 692.9 million rupees for security during the Islamabad Peace Talks, 241 million rupees as compensation for the Imam Bargah blast, 800 million rupees for Coast Guard patrol boats, 1.88 billion rupees for the expansion of Safe City Islamabad, 150 million rupees for NACTA operations, and 413.9 million rupees for the security of Reko Diq.
Further allocations included 733 million rupees for the salaries of Pakistan Television Corporation employees, 183.5 million rupees for telecom infrastructure development in Shigar, Gilgit-Baltistan, and 119.9 million rupees for revised salaries of Parliamentary Secretaries.
The Committee also approved over 11 billion rupees for urban infrastructure development in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, 1.3 billion rupees were sanctioned for the modernization of the Pakistan Mint, 4.377 billion rupees to support initiatives in Gilgit-Baltistan, and a summary regarding the operational continuity of the Engro Vopak Terminal.
