Lahore: Assistant Professor at the University of Gujrat, Dr. Noshia Arshad, has praised the Punjab Social Welfare Department and the Punjab Government for their commendable initiative of providing assistive devices to persons with disabilities (PWDs).
According to Radio Pakistan, in an exclusive interview with correspondent Qasim Bukhari on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Noshia highlighted the distribution of assistive devices such as electric wheelchairs, tricycles, and tri-motorcycles by the Social Welfare Department, noting their significant impact on improving the daily lives of PWDs.
Dr. Noshia shared her personal experience, revealing that she received a tri-motorcycle from the Punjab Government, which has greatly eased her mobility challenges and enhanced her quality of life. She expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for the tangible steps taken for the rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with special needs.
Furthermore, Dr. Noshia underscored the provision of 1,100 wheelchairs for public transport by the Social Welfare Department. She also commended the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz School of Autism for special children, reflecting the Punjab Government’s commitment to supporting PWDs.
