New york: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar is set to visit New York tomorrow to engage in a high-level United Nations Security Council briefing focused on the situation in Palestine. The meeting is scheduled to be chaired by the British Foreign Secretary, who currently holds the position of President of the Security Council.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the briefing, the Deputy Prime Minister will reaffirm Pakistan's consistent stance on Palestine. He plans to articulate Pakistan's strong opposition to Israel's recent decisions to expand control over the West Bank and will emphasize the importance of establishing a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Ishaq Dar will also stress Pakistan's commitment to the comprehensive implementation of Security Council resolution 2803. He will advocate for increased humanitarian assistance and the expedited commencement of recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
The Deputy Prime Minister aims to highlight Pakistan's ongoing collaboration with international and regional partners, such as the Group of Eight Arab and Islamic countries and the United States. This cooperation is in support of achieving a just and lasting peace, rooted in international law, which would enable the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and establish an independent Palestinian State based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister intends to engage in bilateral meetings with counterparts to discuss matters of mutual interest.
