Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized that the privatization framework for electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) must ensure transparency, protect the public interest, and achieve efficiency. He was chairing the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the Privatization of electricity distribution companies in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Secretary of Privatization briefed the Committee on the progress made in preparing DISCOs for privatization. The process will be carried out in a phased manner following detailed due diligence, regulatory improvements, and guidance from international best practices.
