DPM Reiterates Steadfast Support for Commonwealth Nations


New york: At the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers meeting in New York today, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called for sustained focus on helping member states build climate resilience. He was addressing the meeting held at UN Headquarters, New York on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister strongly supported the Commonwealth’s work on climate action and reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Commonwealth and commitment to play its part in strengthening this unique family of nations. He welcomed efforts to re-orient the organization for responding effectively to the evolving global context, ensuring its continued ability to deliver tangible benefits to all its members.



Recalling the multiple and overlapping crises confronted by the international community, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored that the Commonwealth must continue to serve as a platform for peace-building and dialogue to help resolve disputes and promote understanding. Ishaq Dar commended the Commonwealth’s unique role in bringing together 56 diverse members for the advancement of youth empowerment, digital transformation, and enhancement of trade and entrepreneurship.



He said Pakistan is proud to lead on the Commonwealth youth agenda, ensuring that young people are empowered to shape a more prosperous and peaceful future. He added that Pakistan will remain at the forefront of advancing the Commonwealth Connectivity Agenda by championing initiatives that strengthen digital, physical, regulatory, and supply chain links across the Commonwealth.
