DPM Calls for Ensuring Availability of Essential Commodities at Affordable Prices


Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stressed the need to ensure the availability of essential commodities at affordable prices. He was chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad today to review the pricing and supply of essential food items, particularly sugar. Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the interests of both consumers and producers.



According to Radio Pakistan, the committee decided to submit the policy for the import of 250,000 metric tons of raw sugar to the Cabinet for approval. It also granted in-principle approval for the import of 500,000 metric tons of refined sugar, directing the Ministry of National Food Security to have it processed through the ECC.



The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, senior officials from FBR, FIA, Ministry of Industries and Production, as well as PSMA and provincial representatives.
