Dignity, Safeguarding Rights of Visually Impaired Priority for Govt: President, PM


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity, rights, and full participation of persons with visual impairment.



According to Radio Pakistan, in their messages on World Braille Day being observed today, they emphasized that the government will provide equal opportunities to special persons. President Asif Ali Zardari stated that the country continues to honor its commitments under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to ensure an inclusive and equitable society.



The Prime Minister, in his message, affirmed that the government is dedicated to protecting the rights of all special persons, including those who are visually impaired. He appealed to educational institutions, civil society, the private sector, and the media to further strengthen their joint efforts and cooperation for the promotion of Braille literacy.
