Islamabad:Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has emphasized the importance of digital transformation in Pakistan's journey from economic stabilization to sustainable growth.

According to Radio Pakistan, Aurangzeb shared his insights during the Digital Cooperation Organization's High-Level Ministerial Dialogue, held alongside the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

He highlighted the significance of developing digital public infrastructure and promoting cashless payments. The minister stressed the necessity of coupling connectivity with upskilling and reskilling initiatives to enable freelancers and other digital workers to transition into higher-value services.

Aurangzeb also addressed the increasing adoption of virtual assets, detailing Pakistan's efforts in legislation, oversight, and licensing. He pointed out practical applications beyond cryptocurrencies, such as facilitating cheaper and more seamless remittances and exploring the tokenization of public debt and real estate.

Lastly, the Finance Minister urged for enhanced collaboration among Digital Cooperation Organization member states to exchange successful strategies and attract investment in the digital economy.
