Karachi: A high-level meeting chaired by Director General Marine Fisheries Department, Dr. Mansoor Ali Wassan, was held in Karachi today (Friday) to promote the aquaculture sector in Sindh under the ‘Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Development Across Rural Sindh initiative’. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization Pakistan, local fish processors, and exporters also attended the meeting.
According to Radio Pakistan, ‘The Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Development Across Rural Sindh’ initiative is a five-year program funded by the European Union aimed at supporting the Government of Sindh in executing its poverty reduction strategy across five districts in the province. These districts, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, and Umerkot, have been selected due to their socio-economic challenges and the need for inclusive rural development.
The Director General of the Marine Fisheries Department warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to modernize and sustainably grow Sindh’s fisheries industry.
