Islamabad: DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has reiterated Pakistan’s demand to the Afghan Taliban regime to stop facilitating terrorist groups. Speaking with senior journalists, he emphasized that terrorist centers, including the leadership of Al-Qaeda, Daesh, and other terrorist outfits, are operating in Afghanistan. These groups are receiving weapons and funding, which are subsequently used against Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the DG ISPR highlighted that Pakistan has provided undeniable evidence to the Afghan Taliban regime regarding these activities. He further mentioned that during the Doha negotiations, the Afghan Taliban promised the international community that their territory would not be used for terrorism; however, this promise remains unfulfilled.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry demanded that the Afghan Taliban regime must enter into an agreement under a verifiable mechanism. He stressed that if a third party is required to establish this mechanism, Pakistan is open to the idea. He warned that the Afghan regime has become a threat not only to Pakistan but to the entire region and the world, as it harbors non-state actors posing threats to various countries.
He linked the issue of trade disruption between Pakistan and Afghanistan to national security, stating that bloodshed and trade cannot coexist. Regarding the repatriation of Afghan refugees, he revealed that 366,704 individuals were repatriated in 2024, and 971,604 individuals in 2025. In the current month alone, 239,574 Afghans have been sent back.
The DG ISPR also detailed the actions taken against terrorists, noting that 67,023 intelligence-based operations were carried out this year. Specifically, 12,857 operations were conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 53,309 in Balochistan. He reported that 1,873 terrorists were killed this year, including 136 Afghan nationals.
