Development of GB Among Govt’s Top Priorities: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said development of Gilgit-Baltistan is among the federal government's top priorities.

According to Radio Pakistan, he was talking to members of Gilgit Baltistan Assembly belonging to the PML-N in Islamabad today. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that special focus is being given to infrastructure, communications, energy, education, healthcare, tourism, and employment opportunities in the region.

He highlighted that Gilgit-Baltistan's natural resources, tourist attractions, and mineral reserves will be utilized to further strengthen the local economy. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of providing quality education, modern technical training, and dignified employment opportunities to the youth to enable them to play a meaningful role in national development. Four Danish Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan are in the final stages of construction, and classes are set to commence there next year.

Furthermore, he mentioned that work is progressing rapidly on Gilgit-Baltistan's 100-megawatt solar power generation project. Shehbaz Sharif assured that the federal government is utilizing all available resources to ensure the timely completion of ongoing development projects in the region.

The Prime Minister also directed the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to review the practical proposals presented by the members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and submit a report.
