New York:Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized the importance of equitable access to vaccines and essential medical resources, as well as the timely sharing of pandemic-related data. He advocates for a robust, inclusive, and World Health Organization-led multilateral response to future pandemics.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar addressed these points during the High-Level Meeting on "Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response" at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Dar highlighted Pakistan's comprehensive response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which included smart lockdowns, testing, contact tracing, social protection, and a multi-sectoral "One Health" approach.

He also welcomed the WHO Pandemic Treaty and emphasized the need for predictable financing, technology transfer, and the enhancement of scientific, technological, and manufacturing capacities in developing countries.
