Death Anniversary of Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan Observed


Lahore: The sixteenth death anniversary of classical singer Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan was observed today, marking a moment of remembrance for one of the most revered figures in the world of classical music. Born in 1955 in Multan, Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan hailed from the illustrious musician and singer family of Sham Chourasi, a lineage renowned for its contributions to the arts.



According to Radio Pakistan, Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan was trained in the classical forms of thumri, kafi, khyaal, and ghazal by his father, who was himself a proficient classical singer, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan. His mastery of these forms allowed him to perform on international stages and share his expertise through lectures at numerous universities.



In recognition of his contributions to classical music, Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan was posthumously awarded the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 2011. He passed away in Lahore on this day after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire music enthusiasts and practitioners worldwide.
