Islamabad: The seventy-eighth death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet Akhtar Sheerani was observed today (Wednesday). He is widely regarded as one of the foremost romantic poets of the Urdu language. According to Radio Pakistan, Sheerani's illustrious career includes celebrated works such as "Akhtaristan," "Nigarshat-e-Akhtar," "Lala-e-Toor," "Tayyur-e-Aawara," "Naghma-e-Haram," "Subh-e-Bahaar," and "Shahnaz." These contributions have cemented his legacy in Urdu literature. In addition to his poetry, Sheerani was an influential figure in the literary world, serving as the editor for prominent literary magazines including "Intikhab," "Bahaaristan," "Khyaalistan," and "Romaan." His editorial work played a significant role in shaping literary discourse during his time. Akhtar Sheerani passed away in Lahore in 1948, leaving behind a rich legacy of poetic and editorial accomplishments that continue to inspire Urdu literature enthusiasts to this day.
