Death Anniversary of Saadat Hasan Manto Observed

Lahore: The 71st death anniversary of Saadat Hasan Manto, a prominent Pakistani writer, playwright, and author, was observed today. Manto, known for his impactful literary contributions, was born in Ludhiana, British India, on 11th May, 1912. His works include short stories, novels, radio plays, essays, and personality sketches, showcasing his diverse literary prowess.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Government of Pakistan issued a postage stamp on January 18, 2005, to commemorate Manto's services on his 50th death anniversary. The recognition of his contributions continued when he was posthumously honored with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz award by the Pakistani government in 2012. Saadat Hasan Manto passed away on this day in 1955 in Lahore, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence and inspire.
