Karachi: Twenty-seventh death anniversary of Urdu poet, writer, and broadcaster Hameed Naseem was observed today [Sunday]. Hameed Naseem, a celebrated figure in Urdu literature, was born on October 16, 1920, in District Dalhousie of Himachal Pradesh.
According to Radio Pakistan, following the partition, Naseem migrated to Pakistan where he began his illustrious career at Radio Pakistan. His dedication and talent saw him rise to the esteemed position of Deputy Director General of Radio Pakistan, contributing significantly to the country’s broadcasting landscape.
Naseem’s literary contributions include a number of poetry collections, such as ‘Panch Jadeed Shair’, ‘Jast-e-Junoon’, and ‘Gard-e-Malal’, which remain influential in Urdu literature. In addition to his poetry, he penned an autobiography titled ‘Quest for the Impossible’, offering insights into his life and experiences.
Hameed Naseem passed away on this day in 1998 and was laid to rest in Karachi, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to inspire poets and writers across generations.
