Lahore: The sixteenth death anniversary of renowned dramatist, producer, and director Nusrat Thakur was observed on Friday. Nusrat Thakur, born in Lahore in 1937, began his illustrious career with Radio Pakistan before making a significant impact at Pakistan Television (PTV) as a duty officer.
According to Radio Pakistan, Nusrat Thakur also served as the General Manager at PTV Lahore Centre. His fame soared with the drama serial “Waris,” penned by Amjad Islam Amjad. Though initially started by Ghazanfar Ali, the serial’s production was soon entrusted to Nusrat Thakur, who transformed it into a hallmark of PTV’s legacy.
In addition to “Waris,” Nusrat Thakur was credited with several other acclaimed drama serials such as “Pyaas,” “Ashahi,” “Nashiman,” “Dehleez,” “Waqt,” “Samunder,” “Dunya,” “Ghulam Gardash,” and “Andhera Ujaala.” Nusrat Thakur passed away on this day in 2009 in Lahore, leaving behind a rich legacy in the world of television drama.
