Islamabad: The 42nd death anniversary of Chocolate Hero Waheed Murad was observed today [Sunday]: The legendary actor, often referred to as the Chocolate Hero of Pakistani cinema, left an indelible mark on the industry with his unique style and captivating performances.
According to Radio Pakistan, Waheed Murad began his illustrious career in the film industry as a producer, joining the company founded by his father, Nisar Murad. His first production, “Insaan Badalta Hai,” was released in 1961, marking the beginning of a successful journey in cinema.
Murad’s transition from producer to actor proved to be fruitful, with his first acting role becoming a significant hit. His performance earned him acclaim from directors and producers, who were impressed by his style and dialogue delivery. He gained further recognition for his lead role in “Heera Aur Pathar,” which earned him a Nigar Award.
Throughout his career, Waheed Murad acted in 124 films, comprising 38 black and white and 86 colored films. His contribution to the film industry was acknowledged through 32 prestigious film awards, and in November 2010, he was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
Waheed Murad passed away on this day in 1983 and was laid to rest in Lahore, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire new generations of actors and filmmakers.
