Bahawalpur: The Punjab government has initiated a significant step to enhance the cotton industry with the launch of the "Cotton Valley" project in Bahawalpur, aimed at strengthening the province's cotton value chain. The project, valued at two billion rupees, is set to address multiple facets of the industry, including agricultural production and the ginning and processing infrastructure.
According to Radio Pakistan, the government has set an ambitious target for the initial cotton sowing, planning to cover an area of seven hundred thousand acres in the upcoming season. This initiative is part of a broader effort to increase efficiency and output in the cotton sector, which is a crucial component of the region's agricultural economy.
The project also includes the completion of farmer registrations, a measure intended to ensure better monitoring and support throughout the initial sowing phase. This registration process is expected to facilitate improved oversight and assistance, contributing to the overall success of the "Cotton Valley" project.
