Washington: US President Donald Trump and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a meeting at the White House in Washington.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Trump appreciated the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in counterterrorism and acknowledged Pakistan’s peace efforts in the region. Both leaders agreed to continue their collaboration in counterterrorism, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regional peace and security.
President Trump expressed interest in developing a mutually beneficial trade agreement with Pakistan. Sources indicated that there was mutual agreement to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including economic and trade sectors, mining and minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, and cryptocurrency.
The Army Chief expressed gratitude to President Trump on behalf of Pakistan and its people for his role in facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. Furthermore, Field Marshal Asim Munir praised President Trump’s leadership abilities in addressing international challenges.
According to sources, the meeting also involved a detailed discussion on the Iran-Israel conflict, showcasing the breadth of issues covered during their discussions. President Trump praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership capabilities, while the Army Chief extended an invitation to President Trump on behalf of the Government of Pakistan to visit the country.
The meeting, which was initially scheduled for one hour, extended to two hours, reflecting the depth of the dialogue. Present at the meeting alongside President Trump were US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. Field Marshal Asim Munir was accompanied by the National Security Advisor.
