Jhang: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the introduction of a province-wide telemedicine system and the launch of cardiac surgery services at the District Headquarters Hospital in Jhang, as part of the government's efforts to ensure quality healthcare at people's doorsteps.
According to Radio Pakistan, Chief Minister Sharif made these announcements while addressing the inauguration ceremony of a Cath Lab in Jhang. She highlighted that the construction of the Nawaz Sharif Medical District in Lahore is set to begin in March this year.
Chief Minister Sharif emphasized the government's commitment to providing equal treatment facilities to all citizens, irrespective of their financial status, ensuring no distinction between the poor and the affluent in accessing healthcare.
During her address, she expressed satisfaction over the establishment of a cath lab in a remote district, noting the importance of timely medical intervention during the golden hour of a heart attack in saving lives.
She announced that 16 cath labs have been launched across Punjab within weeks and months, and cardiology institutes have been established in Sahiwal, Murree, and Sargodha.
Maryam Nawaz further stated that patients from other provinces, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are also receiving treatment in Punjab, reflecting the province's inclusive healthcare policy.
