CM Maryam Promoting Agriculture in Punjab with Green Tractor Scheme

Jhelum: Under the Green Tractor Scheme initiated by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, tractors were distributed to farmers in Jhelum. Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani, took part in the distribution ceremony, handing over the Green Tractors to 39 farmers from the tehsils of Jhelum, Dina, and Sohawa.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced a special subsidy of one million rupees on each tractor to make them affordable for farmers. Addressing the ceremony, Bilal Azhar Kayani highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader effort to promote agriculture in Punjab by equipping farmers with modern agricultural machinery. He stressed that the introduction of equipment like super seeders, balers, and Kubota machines is pivotal in modernizing agriculture in the region. These machines not only advance agricultural practices but also help in controlling smog and addressing the issue of crop burning.

Kayani also mentioned several other government welfare projects aimed at improving infrastructure and facilities, including the Suthra Punjab initiative, the Kisan Card, and the early construction of the Lilla-Jhelum Road. Further developments include the provision of new blocks and health facilities at DHQ Jhelum, the establishment of a THQ in Dina, and the linkage of Jhelum with the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. Additionally, he announced ongoing efforts to address the demand for gas supply in Dina and Sohawa, which has been a long-standing issue for residents.
