Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a reward of 100 million rupees for Olympic Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem. In a statement, she said that on the occasion Independence Day, Arshad Nadeem won a gold medal, giving a gift to the nation. She also announced the construction of a sports city in his hometown of Mian Channu, named after Olympian Arshad Nadeem.
