CJCSC Engages in High-Level Defence Talks During Australia Visit

Canberra: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza visited Australia to attend the 14th session of the Annual Defence and Security Talks. During his visit, he engaged with top civilian and military leaders of Australia, including Admiral David Johnston, Chief of Defence Forces, Andrew Shearer, Director General of the Office of National Intelligence, Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, Chief of the Australian Army, and Gemma Huggins, Ambassador for Counter-Terrorism at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Defence and Security Talks were focused on strengthening mutual understanding and exploring areas for enhancing defence collaboration between the two nations’ militaries. The discussions covered a broad range of topics, including the evolving global and regional environment, security challenges, and opportunities for expanding existing bilateral military exchanges.

During his visit, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza delivered a lecture at the Australian Defence College, where he discussed Pakistan’s security perspective and emphasized the country’s contributions to regional peace and stability. He also had the opportunity to visit the Australian naval ship HMAS Adelaide.

Upon his arrival at the Chief of Defence Forces office, General Mirza was honored with a guard of honour presented by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.
