Brunei: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, has underscored Pakistan’s cordial relations with Brunei Darussalam and expressed his commitment to further strengthen military-to-military ties and defense cooperation. He emphasized this resolve during his interactions with Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee also held separate meetings with Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at Prime Minister’s office and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Minister of Defence-II, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan. In addition, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza visited Kbd Darussalam at Muara Naval Base and Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The Chairman delivered a talk on “Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability” and interacted with the students of Command and Staff course, which included officers from nineteen foreign countries. During the meetings, both sides discussed the evolving global and regional security environment.
The Sultan and civil-military leadership of Brunei Darussalam appreciated the high professional standards of Pakistan Armed Forces and their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. Earlier, upon arrival at the Headquarters of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, a smartly turned-out military contingent presented a guard of honour to Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
