CDWP Approves Ten Development Projects Worth Billions


Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party has approved ten development projects, including five projects with a cumulative cost of 15.9 billion rupees.



According to Radio Pakistan, the CDWP, which met in Islamabad on Friday with Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal in the chair, recommended five other projects, amounting to approximately 127.1 billion rupees to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council for final consideration and approval.



The projects approved at the CDWP level include the construction of academic blocks of the National University of Pakistan in Islamabad, worth over 1.5 billion rupees. Other initiatives involve the formulation of a national urban strategy and guidelines to mitigate the impact of urban flooding, droughts, climate disasters, and the development of national guidelines for spatial planning considering climate change and disaster risk in Pakistan, costing 106.401 million rupees.



Additionally, the CDWP approved projects such as the IT Industrial Innovation and Research Center and the strengthening of Islamia College University, Peshawar, which will cost over 2.4 billion rupees. The “Revamping IT Industry Landscape” project is valued at over 7.4 billion rupees. Moreover, the establishment of the Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq Shaheed Medical College Muzaffarabad and Kashmir Medical College Muzaffarabad is projected to cost over 4.3 billion rupees.
