DAXIN, China, Sept. 23, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– The Trial Operation Commencement Ceremony of the Sino-Vietnam Detian-Ban Gioc Waterfall Cross-border Tourism Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the “Co-op Zone”) was held at the Chinese-Vietnamese border checkpoints on September 15, at 10:00 am.

At the ceremony, performers from both China and Vietnam showcased music and dances representing their respective peoples. For instance, the Vietnamese tianqin (string instrument)/vocal song Ban Gioc Charms is brisk and sweet, the Chinese song Guangxi Nidiya is passionate and energizing, the Vietnamese music/dance Beautiful Cao Bang Mountains and Waters is graceful and beautiful, the Chinese Early Spring of Zhuang Village is soft and profound. The show culminated in Vietnam and China sung by both Chinese and Vietnamese performers, with the lyrics “Vietnam and China, joint by mountains and waters. Like the mountains and seas we share, our friendship shall last as long as the sun shines. We drink water from the same river, we see each other during the day, we safeguard one another at night” signifying the promising future of this cooperation. After the end of the ceremony, members of the first-ever tour groups of the China-Vietnam Co-op Zone respectively passed through checkpoints, crossed national borders and began touring in the other country, according to the Publicity Department of Daxin.

The Co-op Zone, located in Daxin county, has started its trial operation, which is set to last from September 15, 2023 to September 14, 2024. During the span of trial operation, a management model will be implemented that includes group tour reservation, limited group tour availability, limited time for cross-border travel, entry and exit only for tour groups, and designated touring routes. Within the trial operation, the Co-op Zone is only open to tourists holding valid Passport of the People’s Republic of China, Entry and Exit Permit of the People’s Republic of China, Passport of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Entry and Exit Permit of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. For tourists visiting the Co-op Zone from Vietnam, it is necessary to first register for tour group via the WeChat Mini Program “CTG-QUBIANGUAN”, with each group requiring a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 20. During the first three months of the trial operation period, there is a ceiling of ten tour groups per day.

Beginning in the fourth month, daily quota for cross-border visitors will increase to 500 persons. All cross-border visitors will need to enter and exit as a part of a tour group. Border checkpoints are open for entry each day from (all time shown in Beijing time) 10:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, and before 17:00 all cross-border tour groups must return across the border back to country of origin. Each group shall not spend more than five hours touring across the border, and unlawfully staying behind in the territory of the other nation is strictly prohibited for any cross-border visitor. During the span of trial operation, the tour route inside the Co-op Zone for Vietnamese visitors will be Co-op Zone entry and exit channel checkpoint – Ban Gioc Waterfall tourism and scenic zone – Ban Gioc hotel and restaurant – Co-op Zone entry and exit channel checkpoint. Ticket price for Vietnamese visitor is VND 70,000/person/visit (around RMB 21 per current exchange rate, including personal accident insurance, excluding other recreation fees), and visitors must wear Vietnamese badge during the tour.

TAIZHOU, China, Sept. 23, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– On Sept. 23, the 19th Asian Games will open in Hangzhou, capital city of east China’s Zhejiang Province. This is the third time that China has hosted the largest comprehensive sports event in Asia after the 1990 Beijing Asian Games and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, and it is also the first time for an eastern Chinese city to host the event.

The Hangzhou Asian Games is set to offer visitors picturesque landscapes, top-notch facilities and services, and an open, harmonious and inclusive atmosphere.

These extraordinary experiences are the characteristics of Zhejiang, which are perfectly reflected in its Taizhou City, a coastal region renowned for its natural views, manufacturing prowess and Hehe culture.

For example, in the torch relay of the Hangzhou Asian Games, Taizhou in central Zhejiang is a very important and distinctive stop.

Taizhou is surrounded by mountains and seas, and is home to national 5A-level scenic spots of Tiantai Mountain, Shenxianju scenic area and the ancient city of Taizhou.

With a coastline of 651 kilometers, Taizhou is home to 691 islands. Endowed with magnificent views of mountains and sea as well as the graceful villages on the south bank of the Yangtze River, Taizhou is a popular tourist destination featuring the typical cultural tourism elements in the country’s eastern coastal areas.

The torch relay started from the city’s iconic Hehe Park which is built to promote Hehe culture, an important part of traditional Chinese culture that values harmony, the Golden Means, mutual understanding, tolerance, benevolence and coexistence with differences. Hehe culture is also highly consistent with the Olympic spirit of mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.

Taizhou is an important cradle and symbolic area of Hehe culture. The story of the two gods of harmony from Tiantai Mountain and Guoqing Temple is widely spread. In recent years, Taizhou has held a series of activities such as the Hehe Culture Global Forum in a bid to further promote and practice the unique culture. Later this year, the 2023 Hehe Culture Global Forum will be held in a grand and high-standard manner to boost the influence of Hehe culture.

The 8-kilometer torch relay passed Taizhou’s many landmarks, including the central business district, public square, library, cultural center, sci-tech center, museum, art museum, college and sports center.

Along the route, one can not only come across the magnificent and dazzling high-rises, experiencing the prosperity of Taizhou as the birthplace of China’s private economy and joint-stock cooperative economy, and the pioneer of market economy, but also see a variety of sports, culture and entertainment venues,

gaining a clue of why Taizhou can be rated as one of China’s happiest cities for seven times.

A total of 170 torchbearers joined the torch relay, with the youngest being 14 years old and the oldest 67 years old.

They came from all walks of life in Taizhou, including a world sailing champion and a Paralympics champion, as well as a worker dedicated to over three decades of development in a remote island and a national role model in charity work. The team and their stories well demonstrate the perseverance, tenacity and vitality of the people in Taizhou.

Lvy Yicong, the second torchbearer, is from Chinese automaker Geely Auto Group. In just seven years, Lvy has risen from a grass-root assembly line apprentice to a national technical master, who can detect more than 40 kinds of abnormal car sounds with his ears alone, and troubleshoot more than 2,000 kinds of car faults. The standby car running behind him is the new model rolled out by Geely Auto Group’s Taizhou production base.

In addition, as the official designated vehicles for the Hangzhou Asian Games, more than 2,000 Geely cars will appear in airports, railway stations and competition venues. The service fleet is not only the largest of its kind in the history of Asian Games, but also a high-tech facility demonstrating the Asian Games’ pursuit of smart organization.

These cars are equipped with satellite communication systems, which can realize centimeter-level accurate management and dispatching by connecting the Asian Games traffic command center via satellites. It is worth mentioning that satellites communicating with automobiles are also manufactured by a Taizhou enterprise, including the first commercial satellite named after the Asian Games.

On the field of the Asian Games, one can see the exciting performance of six athletes representing Taizhou, including a 17-year-old young sharpshooter, a seasoned world chess king, and the competent ace spiker in Chinese men’s volleyball team. They will compete for glory in shooting, karate, rattan ball, volleyball and chess.

From torch relay to event services and competitions, Taizhou is adding luster to the Hangzhou Asian Games with its rich and unique resources, showcasing the vibrant Zhejiang vibe and glamorous Chinese style.

NANJING, China, Sept. 23, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– From September 19 to 20, the 2023 Nanjing Peace Forum, jointly organized by the  United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the  National Committee of UNESCO of China, the Information Office of Jiangsu  Provincial People’s Government and Nanjing Municipal People’s Government, took  place in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. Representatives from international organizations, experts and scholars from various fields, representatives from businesses and non-profit organizations, as well as young practitioners dedicated to the pursuit of peace, gathered to exchange ideas and experiences, promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning, contribute to peace and sustainable development, and engage in discussions on building a community of shared future for mankind.

Since 2020, the Nanjing Peace Forum has been held for three sessions. Focusing on peace and sustainable development, the forum has established a global platform for young people to create and share together, engage in collective action to practice and promote Chinese philosophies, and has developed rich solutions and narratives within the “Chinese discourse” and “Chinese narratives”. It has received widespread attention from the international community. With the theme of “Jointly Promoting Peaceful Development and Sharing the Fruits of Civilization – Youth in Action”, this forum will contribute wisdom and strength to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.

During the forum, young people from different countries and regions, drawing from their own experiences and practices, voiced their aspirations for peace and sought collective action.

Dr. Wu Xiaomai, McGill University’s recent graduate, who holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, shared her experience of an immersive 8-day research expedition. The group developed five action plans related to sustainable development in Nanjing and international peace city construction.

A young representative from Pakistan, Zoon Ahmed Khan of the “Z Generation”, shared the significant changes brought to her hometown by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. She mentioned the astonishing synergies and vitality created by the Belt and Road Initiative.

The event also highlighted the power of art in promoting peace, warmth, and healing with performances during the opening ceremony, further advancing cultural exchange and cross-cultural understanding.

Throughout the event, 2023 The 10th Anniversary of the National Initiative of Building One Belt and One Road Media Think Tank and Youth Dialogue Activity, 2023 The “Wonderful China Touch Nanjing” Visiting Program will also be held concurrently.
