China Holds Launch Ceremony for Pakistan’s Hangor-Class Submarine

In a major boost for Pakistan's defense capabilities, the launching ceremony of the first Hangor-class submarine was held at the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group's (WSIG) Shuangliu Base. It is important to note that the Hangor-class submarine will be built for the Pakistan Navy by China. The ceremony was attended by Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Naveed Ashraf. This is part of an agreement between the two countries, according to which China committed to supplying Pakistan with eight cutting-edge submarines. According to the Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement, four of the total eight vessels will be built by WSIG and the remaining four at KSandEW. The submarines, equipped with advanced stealth features, will be outfitted with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors to operate effectively in a multi-threat environment, capable of engaging targets at stand-off ranges. While speaking as the chief guest at the event, CNS Ashraf highlighted the importance of maritime security amid the current geo- strategic landscape and reaffirmed the navy's commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability. He added that the Hangor-class S/M Project will 'add a new dimension to the ever-tested Pak-China friendship and shows strong military cooperation between two countries'. Earlier in February this year, Pakistan initiated the construction of the 6th Hangor-class submarine at KSandEW. Power Division has refuted reports of imposition of fixed tax on solar power. In a statement, the power division stated there is no truth in the news of solar power fixed tax. The Central Power Purchasing Agency or Power Division has not sent any such summary to the government in this regard. The power division said the Net Metering Policy of 2017 was aimed at promoting alternative energy in the system. There has been a phase where the solarization has increased very rapidly. KP Govt is Ending Doctor Fee Percentage in Sehat Card

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's provincial finance advisor Muzamil Aslam has stated that they are considering abolishing the doctor's fee percentage from the Sehat Card. He revealed that doctors are currently receiving 55 percent of the funds allocated for treatment through the health card in government hospitals. Muzamil Aslam announced that the government will end the percentage system for health cards for doctors in government hospitals as well as the health allowances for government employees. The provincial finance advisor stated that these employees are currently covered by both the health card system and also receive health allowances. Earlier, the provincial government had restored free healthcare for the entire population of the province under the Sehat Card Plus insurance scheme. The free treatment facility was suspended by the State Life Insurance Company over the caretaker government's failure to clear dues. PM increases federal govt’s wheat procurement target to 1.8mln metric tons

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has increased the federal government's wheat procurement target of 1.4 million metric tons to 1.8 million metric tons. He announced this decision while taking notice on farmers' complaints before his departure to Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister ordered the PASSCO to increase the target and ensure immediate procurement of wheat. Shehbaz Sharif instructed Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation to give priority to transparency regarding the purchase of wheat and convenience to farmers.
