PM orders immediate suspension of illegal FED at airports

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken strict notice of illegal collection of Federal Excise Duty worth 50,000 rupees from passengers at the airports.

Expressing strong displeasure at collection of Federal Excise Duty, he directed that the illegal order to collect federal excise duty at the airports should be immediately revoked and the practice of causing trouble to the passengers should be discontinued immediately.

The Prime Minister also ordered investigation into the collection of federal excise duty.

He said it should be investigated as to how the excise duty was collected from the passengers without approval of the cabinet.

Shehbaz Sharif instructed the Finance Minister that after an immediate inquiry, strict action under the law should be taken against those responsible for the illegal act. He said those who inflicted suffering on the passengers had no right to hold their posts.

The Prime Minister asked the Finance Minister to return the money to the passengers from whom federal excise duty was collected. Shehbaz Sharif called for immediate implementation of his orders and submission of report after action against the persons responsible.

Pakistan Railways announces to run three special trains on Eid

Pakistan Railways has announced to run three special trains on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha to facilitate the passengers.

The spokesperson of Pakistan railways said that the first Eid special train will leave from Quetta to Peshawar on Friday at 10 a.m.

The second special train will leave Karachi for Lahore on Friday, while the third Eid special train from Lahore to Karachi on 13th of this month.

Govt focusing on long-term solution to problems: Kaira

Advisor to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that country is facing hardships due to wrong policies of the previous government.

Talking to a private news channel, he said opposing budget by opposition is a routine matter.

The Advisor said the government is not looking for short-term solution, but for a long-term, to save the country from default.

He said direct taxation is necessary and government is focusing to manufacture products in the country rather than importing them.

PM directs to complete all projects in federal capital within stipulated time-frame

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to complete all the projects in the federal capital within the stipulated timeframe.

He was chairing a review meeting on various ongoing development projects in the federal capital, including the Islamabad Metro Bus Service comprising Orange Line, Blue Line, and Green Line, in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister said that a coordinated mechanism should be evolved after reducing Metro Bus fare to facilitate masses. He directed to complete landscaping of Orange Line Metro Bus from Faiz Ahmed Faiz Terminal H-9 to the Islamabad Airport.

He also instructed to start work on Bhara Kahu bypass on priority basis. He said a transparent bidding should be ensured in the project.

The meeting was further apprised that 20-kilometer long Blue Line Metro Bus Service from Koral to PIMS is ready for inauguration.

It was apprised that Rawal Chowk Flyover will be completed by the end of this month as per instructions of the Prime Minister, while the project of restoration of Islamabad Express Way and its expansion will be started soon.

FBR clarifies about enhanced rate of FED on international air ticket

Federal Board of Revenue has clarified about implementation of Federal Excise Duty for enhancing rate on International Air Tickets.

In a press release, FBR said Federal Excise Duty is chargeable on Club, Business and First class international air tickets under Section 3 of Federal Excise Act, 2005.

Furthermore, sub-rule(8) of the rule 41A stipulates that FED is chargeable at the time of issuance of air tickets.

Thus, enhanced rate of FED on air tickets under new finance bill 2022 will be chargeable only on international tickets(Club, Business & First class) issued on and after 1st of July, this year.

Govt decides to ensure 100 % coverage of Safe City Project

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah says as per the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, coverage of safe city Islamabad will be enhanced from thirty to hundred percent in this fiscal year.

Talking to media after visiting Safe City Islamabad on Saturday, he said forty million rupees have been provided to meet emergency needs of the safe city. He said government will provide more funds to enhance the capacity of safe city.

The Minister said without using technology in safe cities maintaining law and order has become impossible.

Rana Sanaullah said a hundred-bed hospital for police officials will be established in Islamabad at a cost of five billion rupees by the end of this fiscal year. He said prime minister will inaugurate the project.

He thanked prime minister, finance minister and planning minister for approving a big amount for this hospital.

The Minister said in current budget approval has been given to bring salaries of Islamabad police at par with Punjab Police. He said salaries of FC personnel will be brought at par with KP Police while said ration allowance of FC has also been increased.

He said strict action will be taken against miscreants trying to siege the capital.

Responding to a question, Rana Sanaullah condemned the incident of Ayaz Amir and assured that government will take action against the culprits as per law.

To another question, he said former Prime Minister Imran Khan is trying to create anarchy in the country.
