Islamabad:The Cabinet Committee for the Export of Surplus Sugar, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has finalized plans for the export of 200,000 metric tons of sugar.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting also approved the formation of a monitoring committee to conduct regular checks on sugar prices. This initiative aims to support the sugar industry, sugarcane farmers, and enhance foreign exchange earnings while protecting domestic consumers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar emphasized the need for all relevant ministries to expedite the process and complete the necessary formalities swiftly. The meeting included attendance from the Ministers for National Food Security and Climate Change, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, and Secretaries of Commerce and National Food Security and Research, alongside other federal and provincial stakeholders.
