Book Reading Culture Reviving in Pakistan: Khawar Jamal

Lahore: Renowned writer Khawar Jamal has said that the culture of book reading is gradually reviving in the country, which is an encouraging sign for society. Talking to Radio Pakistan correspondent Ghulam Haider at the Lahore International Book Fair-2026, he emphasized the universal importance of books despite the widespread availability of information through electronic and digital media.

According to Radio Pakistan, Khawar Jamal noted that the large public turnout and strong sales at the book fair clearly reflect people's continued interest in reading. He highlighted that literary events like book fairs play a key role in promoting knowledge, critical thinking, and intellectual development in society.

Discussing his book 'Fazai Mizban' (Flight Attendant), Jamal described it as a unique work where an air hostess shares her professional life, personal observations, and experiences. The book offers insights into an uncommon profession and introduces readers to different cultures and real-life experiences globally.

Jamal stated that the idea for the book emerged during his professional career, aiming to highlight the realities, challenges, and memorable aspects of the aviation industry. He expressed hope that the book would not only entertain readers but also broaden their understanding of life beyond borders.

Khawar Jamal appreciated the organizers of the Lahore International Book Fair for providing a platform to writers and publishers and stressed the need for more such literary initiatives, particularly to promote reading habits among the younger generation.
