Washington D.C.: Head of a high-level Pakistani Parliamentary delegation and PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has emphasized the importance of de-escalation, regional cooperation, and resolving longstanding issues to prevent further instability in South Asia. Speaking at the Middle East Institute, he highlighted the necessity of achieving peace through dialogue and diplomacy with India.
According to Radio Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari focused on resolving disputes over Kashmir, terrorism, and water through regional cooperation. He rejected any ill will toward Indians and stressed the importance of protecting future generations from conflict. He pointed out India’s violation of UN resolutions and international law in Kashmir, noting that recent U.S. offers to mediate have reframed Kashmir as an international, rather than internal, issue.
He stated that Pakistan condemns terrorism and offered an international probe into recent attacks in Illegally Indian Occupied Kashmir, which was rejected by India. He also described India’s threat to cut off Pakistan’s water supply, in violation of the Indus Water Treaty, as a potential trigger for a full-scale war.
Bilawal proposed joint efforts on climate change and the potential for an India-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Pakistani delegation expressed gratitude for the positive response in Washington and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues with India, calling on global leaders to support such an important endeavor.
