Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the bidding for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to take place on 23rd December and will be broadcast live on television to ensure transparency. Speaking today in Islamabad to business leaders and company representatives involved in PIA’s privatization process, he emphasized that transparency and merit are the government’s top priorities.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister remarked that the privatization process is proceeding smoothly with the aim of restoring PIA’s lost identity and aligning the national flag carrier with modern requirements. He expressed confidence that PIA will soon reclaim its reputation as a preferred airline.
Shehbaz Sharif further pointed out that restoring PIA’s international flights will offer greater convenience to overseas Pakistanis. He also highlighted the significance of modernizing the airline to bolster Pakistan’s tourism sector.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the successful bidder will dedicate their efforts to reviving the airline’s identity and driving its progress. During the meeting, all bidders participating in PIA’s privatization praised the government’s professional and transparent handling of the process.
