Quetta: Balochistan Assembly today passed the ‘Balochistan Child Marriage Prohibition Bill’. The legislative move aims to address the issue of child marriage within the province.
According to Radio Pakistan, the bill was presented in the House by Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar. The presentation of the bill marks a significant step in aligning Balochistan’s legal framework with national efforts to combat child marriage.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, speaking on the floor, highlighted that similar bills have already been passed by the National Assembly and other provincial assemblies. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to harmonizing laws across the country regarding child marriage prohibition.
Following the passage of the bill, the Speaker adjourned the session, scheduling the next meeting for Monday.
