Islamabad: The 3rd Trilateral Speakers Conference, organized by the National Assembly Secretariat, commenced in Islamabad on Monday. The conference, with the theme of strengthening friendly relations and promoting parliamentary cooperation for regional peace and prosperity, saw participation from Azerbaijan and Turkiye alongside Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the Speakers of Azerbaijan and Turkiye, expressing appreciation for their participation. He emphasized that the trilateral cooperation among Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan represents a unique and strategic partnership, reflecting the will of the people and the voice of the parliament. Sadiq highlighted the increasing pressure on the global security system, with ongoing violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Addressing international issues, Sadiq condemned the situation in Gaza, referring to two years of suffering as a stain on human conscience. He also spoke on the long-standing issues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, pointing out the deprivation of self-determination and continuous human rights violations. Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination, as per UN Security Council resolutions.
Sadiq further mentioned the aggression by India against Pakistan in May, noting that Pakistan’s Armed Forces and the nation responded effectively through “Operation Banyan-um-Marsoos.” He expressed gratitude to friendly countries such as Turkiye, Azerbaijan, China, and Saudi Arabia for their support.
Turning attention to Afghanistan, Sadiq urged the Taliban government to take immediate and verifiable actions against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory. He stated that Pakistan is a direct target of Indian state-sponsored terrorism, which has escalated through proxies like Fitna al Khawarij. Sadiq criticized the Taliban-led government for insufficient action against these groups, which continue to use Afghanistan as a base for their activities.
