Karachi: Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advance Business to Business cooperation with friendly countries in mining, renewable energy, and industrial development sectors. He was speaking to a 13-member delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission of Nigeria, led by Federal Commissioner Imo Effiong Akpan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister apprised the delegation of Pakistan’s macroeconomic progress and the Government’s reform agenda. He underscored improvements in key macroeconomic indicators over the past 18 months, including increased stability in the external account, moderation in inflation, improved fiscal discipline, and enhanced market confidence.
The Finance Minister also highlighted the major structural reforms, such as broadening of the tax base, enhanced digitization, and the comprehensive transformation underway within the Federal Board of Revenue. He emphasized Pakistan’s shift toward private-sector-led growth, noting that several sectors, particularly banking, have already witnessed strong private participation.
He assured the delegation of Pakistan’s readiness to continue supporting knowledge exchange and institutional collaboration with Nigerian counterparts. On the occasion, Barrister Imo Effiong Akpan briefed the Minister on the mandate of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission of Nigeria. The commission is responsible for formulating revenue allocation frameworks, advising on public sector remuneration, and strengthening fiscal coordination within Nigeria’s federal structure.
He explained that their engagements in Pakistan are aimed at learning from Pakistan’s experience in tax administration, customs modernization, resource management, and federal revenue sharing mechanisms.
