Aurangzeb Lauds FBR for Achieving Record Tax Collection in December


Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has praised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) field formations for achieving the highest tax collection recorded in the month of December. This accolade was given during a video link conference with Team FBR and field formations held in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Federal Board of Revenue collected a total of one thousand four hundred twenty-seven point one billion rupees in December 2025. This figure represents 99 percent of its monthly target of 1,446 billion rupees. The Finance Minister characterized the performance as a strong validation of the government’s fiscal reform agenda, highlighting a continued focus on compliance, enforcement, and digitization.



Aurangzeb urged FBR field formations to intensify their efforts and enhance initiatives to expand the tax net. He emphasized that improved tax compliance and enforcement are sustainable strategies to ease the tax burden on the formal sector. Furthermore, he outlined the government’s strategy of digitizing the economy, promoting cashless transactions, and strengthening enforcement while maintaining business momentum as key factors that have begun to yield tangible and sustainable results.
