Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has stated that meetings with prisoners are intended solely for legal consultation, not for criticizing the military, its leadership, or dishonoring martyrs. Speaking in the National Assembly, he highlighted that any interaction with a prisoner will adhere strictly to the jail manual, ensuring no unlawful demands are entertained.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister recalled the victimization political opponents faced during the PTI government. He mentioned that the PTI founder, during a visit to the United States, had expressed intentions to remove air-conditioners from the cells of detained political opponents. He noted the hardships and bitterness endured by political opponents throughout the PTI’s tenure.
