Pakistan has expressed resolve to accelerate national efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Making a statement at the General Debate of the UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York, Pakistan's Acting Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Usman Jadoon said we have made progress in SDG implementation. However, like other developing countries, Pakistan also faces numerous challenges in achieving the SDGs by 2030. Ambassador Usman Jadoon said the challenges developing countries face in realizing the SDGs can only be addressed with the provision of the required means of implementation. He pointed out the SDG Financing Gap stands at over four trillion dollars. The adaptation needs of developing countries is estimated to be between 215-387 billion dollars annually up until 2030. He called for unlocking much greater financing and fiscal space for developing countries. Source: Radio Pakistan
