Asif Highlights Pakistan’s Efforts for Preventing Infiltration from Afghanistan

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has categorically stated that there will be no more delegation visits, demarches, and appeals to Afghanistan from Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister emphasized the lack of a positive response from Kabul despite Pakistan’s extensive efforts and sacrifices over the past five years. He shared a comprehensive review of Pakistan’s initiatives to foster peace and prevent infiltration from Afghanistan, particularly since the Taliban’s ascension to power in 2021. These efforts included multiple visits by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, ISI officials, Special Advisors, National Security Advisors, and Secretary to Kabul.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif further detailed the numerous demarches conveyed to Kabul and the hundreds of border flag meetings held with Afghan officials to express Islamabad’s concerns. He revealed that since 2021, Pakistan has endured the loss of approximately four thousand civilian and military lives in over ten thousand terrorism-related incidents.

Additionally, the Defence Minister accused Afghanistan of becoming an Indian proxy, stating that the war on terror is being imposed on Pakistan by India, Afghanistan, and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) collectively. He asserted that all Afghans residing in Pakistan would have to return to their homeland, emphasizing that Afghanistan now has its own government in Kabul, five years post-Islamic Revolution.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif concluded by stressing that Afghanistan must coexist with Pakistan as a good neighbor, and that Pakistan’s resources are meant for its 250 million citizens. He reiterated the need to end the decades-long forced hospitality, stating that self-reliant nations do not depend on foreign land and resources.
