Aseefa Bhutto Reviews Flood Preparedness Measures in Nawabshah

Nawabshah: First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari visited the flood preparedness sites in Nawabshah along the S.M. Bund at Mudd Bungalow and Mudd Mangli point today and reviewed ongoing relief and safety measures.

According to Radio Pakistan, she was briefed that the Irrigation Department constructed protective structures, including T-spurs, J-spurs, and sloping studs, to reduce pressure from the river flow. The First Lady was informed that heavy machinery and a stockpile of stones have also been placed nearby for immediate response in case of breaches, while continuous patrolling ensures round-the-clock monitoring of the embankment.

Rescue 1122 officials briefed her that their camps are fully equipped with boats, life jackets, scuba sets, and ropes to respond to any emergency, while a medical camp at Mudd Bungalow is treating around 80 patients daily.

Speaking on the occasion, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari urged residents of flood-prone areas to strictly follow precautionary guidelines and accept evacuation requests from authorities concerned. Terming their lives as precious, she said that no unnecessary risk should be taken in the face of natural calamities.

She expressed satisfaction over deploying the best resources and skills by local administration in order to prepare the safety and rehabilitation of potentially affected communities. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari termed effective coordination among departments, close monitoring, and advanced planning as essential to manage this challenge successfully.
