Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called on the international community to pressure India into taking definitive actions to resolve the Kashmir conflict in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement highlighting the dire situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), alleging that the BJP-led Indian government has launched a campaign against the defenseless population in the region. Minhas accused Indian forces of severe human rights violations and conducting ruthless raids and cordon-and-search operations to intimidate the local populace seeking freedom.
Despite the reported oppressive measures, Minhas noted that the resolve of the Kashmiri people remains unbroken. He emphasized the need for India to be held internationally accountable for what he described as a systematic campaign to terrorize and subjugate the Kashmiri people.
In a related development, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has also voiced concerns over the Indian government’s approach to Kashmir. Addressing her party’s executive committee meeting, Mufti urged New Delhi to fundamentally rethink its Kashmir policy. She criticized the government’s reliance on coercive measures such as raids and pressure tactics, which she claimed have only served to deepen fear and mistrust among the residents of IIOJK. Mufti further stated that since 2019, the Indian government has closed all avenues for dialogue on the issue.
