APHC Demands Immediate Release of Detained Kashmiri Leaders

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed grave concern over the continued illegal detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists in Indian prisons, demanding their immediate release.

According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas stated that India is detaining Hurriyat leaders and activists as part of a broad political vendetta. APHC chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Asiya Andrabi, Naeem Ahmad Khan, Fahmida Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen, and other Hurriyat leaders and human rights activists are among those imprisoned.

The APHC spokesman highlighted that Kashmiri detainees are being denied medical care and basic facilities. He accused the BJP-led Indian government of imprisoning them under fabricated charges using laws such as the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Public Safety Act, underscoring India’s systematic misuse of counter-terrorism laws to target Kashmiris.

Meanwhile, in another instance of repression in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the administration seized property belonging to a Kashmiri in the Tral area of Pulwama district. Since the abrogation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, the Modi regime has intensified its campaign of seizing homes, lands, and businesses from Kashmiri Muslims.

APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas also condemned India’s escalating repression in IIOJK, stating that the Modi government is targeting Kashmiris with large-scale political vengeance for demanding their right to self-determination.
