Srinagar: Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned Indian authorities for preventing an important meeting of a religious forum in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) concerning the controversial Waqf Amendment Act. According to Radio Pakistan, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed his disapproval in a post on X, criticizing what he described as an undemocratic move by the New Delhi-installed authorities. He emphasized that it is unjust to deny religious leaders their basic democratic right to peacefully discuss issues that are of serious concern to the Muslim community. The meeting was set to include representatives from across the occupied territory, including those from Ladakh, Kargil, and Jammu regions, who had already arrived in Srinagar to participate. The prevention of this gathering has sparked significant criticism and is viewed by the APHC as an infringement on religious and democratic freedoms in the region.
