Islamabad: -Polio vaccination drive of varied duration began across the country today. During the campaign, forty-five million children under the age of five will be administered anti polio vaccine drops.
According to Radio Pakistan, the nationwide campaign aims to ensure that every child under five years of age receives the polio vaccine. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to eradicate polio from the country and prevent any future outbreaks. Health workers and volunteers are mobilized across urban and rural areas to reach all targeted children.
The campaign will involve door-to-door visits as well as vaccination booths set up at public places. The government is coordinating with local health departments to ensure smooth execution of the drive, and security measures are in place to protect health teams during their fieldwork. Public awareness efforts are also being conducted to encourage parents to vaccinate their children.
The anti-polio drive is part of a series of planned vaccination campaigns, aiming to cover different regions at various times. This approach is designed to maximize coverage and address logistical challenges. The government has expressed commitment to maintaining high vaccination rates to achieve polio-free status in the near future.
