Islamabad: Analysts have lauded the Pakistani delegation for maintaining patience and composure during recent talks with Afghanistan in Istanbul. The discussions, mediated by Turkey and Qatar, aimed to address tensions between the two countries.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Abdullah Gul, a defense analyst, highlighted the strategic importance of the talks. He expressed concerns about the Afghan Taliban regime potentially using the agreed accord as a regrouping opportunity. Gul warned that India might be supplying the Taliban with surface-to-air missiles and noted the presence of leftover U.S. weapons in Afghanistan. He emphasized the need for Pakistan to remain vigilant, especially with the upcoming talks scheduled for November 6.
Ambassador Waheed Ahmad, a former diplomat, commended the Pakistani delegation for their diplomatic efforts. He acknowledged the role of Turkey and Qatar in facilitating the discussions and stressed the importance of establishing a mechanism to prevent terrorist activities from Afghan soil. Ahmad reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, highlighting the country’s focus on economic development.
The situation remains complex, with geopolitical dynamics involving India, Afghanistan, and other regional players. The upcoming talks are seen as crucial for advancing peace and stability in the region.
