Analysts Discuss Impact of Pak-Egypt Contacts Amid Gaza Situation

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has engaged in a telephonic conversation with the Egyptian Foreign Minister concerning the current situation in Gaza, following Hamas’ agreement to Trump’s peace plan. Their discussion also included bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt, with a primary focus on the evolving situation in Gaza. The reopening of the Rafah Crossing, controlled by Egypt, is considered crucial for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of aid into Gaza. Presently, Gazans and Hamas have no other option but to accept Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Muhammad Khan, an International Relations expert, expressed skepticism about resolving the Palestine issue in alignment with Palestinian aspirations. He suggested that a temporary one-sided ceasefire could evolve into permanent peace and provide a pause to the ongoing violence against Palestinians by Israeli forces. Pro-Israeli countries and powers are facing severe global condemnation, which has pressured the US and some European countries. As a result, Trump and his allies are attempting to initiate a ceasefire in Gaza. Dr. Khan emphasized the need for powerful Muslim countries to intervene to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. He also highlighted a conspiracy theory suggesting that Hamas was manipulated into attacking Israel in 2023, providing Israel an opportunity to launch an offensive on Gaza. This has led to the killing of Palestinian children, which Dr. Khan described as ethnic cleansing and genocide.
