Analyst Observe Jordanian King’s Visit to Further Cement Pakistan-Jordan Cordial Ties


Islamabad: The visit of King Abdullah-II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan to Pakistan is being closely observed as a significant development in the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two nations. The King is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari to discuss crucial issues, including the Palestine peace process. Discussions will also cover matters of mutual interest both on bilateral and international fronts.



According to Radio Pakistan, former diplomat Amb. A M Shahid emphasized the importance of this visit, stating that it is expected to bolster the already strong ties between Pakistan and Jordan. The visit is anticipated to further cooperation in various sectors and may include discussions on a forthcoming United Nations resolution concerning the Gaza peace plan. Shahid highlighted how Pakistan’s active role in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the UN has elevated its standing globally, with Muslim countries increasingly looking to Pakistan for defense support and business cooperation.



Former diplomat Amb. Waheed Ahmad remarked on the historically cordial relations between Pakistan and Jordan, underscoring close cooperation in strategic, economic, and cultural domains. There are frequent exchanges between the security personnel of the two countries, and Pakistan provides various defense services to Jordan. Ahmad noted the significance of this visit, as it follows a long gap since the last visit by King Shah Hussain. The visit is expected to result in the signing of new agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs), expanding on the already existing bilateral exchanges.



Ahmad also mentioned Jordan’s defense policy, which is influenced by Pakistani experts, reflecting the closeness of ties between the two nations. He expressed satisfaction over the visit, highlighting Pakistan’s role in offering protection and training to Jordanian security and armed personnel. The visit marks a welcoming development in the continued partnership between Pakistan and Jordan.
